India: Historic Friendship and Contemporary Importance

India, a nation with a large population and diverse languages, cultures, religions and ideas, is a beautiful picture of coexistence, love and continuous movement in societal development and the renaissance of the state throughout history despite the difficulties. It continues on the path of success, playing a vital role in the global arena thanks to its historical antiquity and the civilized modernity from which it extends to the whole world.

From this introduction comes the great importance of the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi, as it reveals the strength of the Indian-Kuwaiti relations and their depth in reality and their “historical” “continuous” and “extended” roots in time since ancient times in various commercial, financial, political, health, social, tourism, investment, transportation, education, and exchange of professional and technical expertise. These are “important” relations that began in the early nineteenth century, and flourished more in the early twentieth century during the rule of the late Sheikh Mubarak Al-Kabeer and continued to grow positively to this day. Perhaps what clarifies and reveals more is the size of the Indian community “specialized in various fields, professions, and branches of job work” residing with us in the State of Kuwait, which also includes medical relations with what the Republic of India provides in terms of doctors and a supporting staff of nurses and technicians in the health sector, who, to be honest, have proven their competence, loyalty, and deep love for Kuwait.

The recent historic visit of the Prime Minister of friendly India is “sensitive” because it comes at a critical stage in the history of the region, which is the transitional period from a unipolar world to a multipolar world, where India represents one of the most important of these “new” poles. It is considered one of the fastest growing economies in the world in recent times and is an important member of the “BRICS” organization, which was recently joined by the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Ethiopia and Iran, where India plays a prominent role in political coordination within the organization.

India has always fully supported the expansion of BRICS membership from different countries, hence the importance of the current visit, which also reflects the "foresight" of the Kuwaiti political leadership in building and strengthening such relations and developing the partnership between the two countries. This confirms the Kuwaiti political leadership's awareness of the importance of India in this sensitive transitional phase that the world is going through and the need to build strong strategic relations with the new poles of the world in the BRICS system such as Russia, China, India, South Africa and Brazil, which constitutes an impetus for Kuwait's strategic project to restore its role as a "port" for the region and link the country with the new international trade lines established by China, with which the Republic of India participates in the BRICS organization as a "partner" and a basic "collaborator" in the new global reality to come.

Hence the question of what the relations between Kuwait and India represent as a "model" for fruitful cooperation and strategic partnership, which paves the way for a future full of opportunities and  and successes that we hope will be reflected in the renaissance of the two countries in various fields.
